Gayatri Margaret Schilberg died peacefully on December 26, 2015 in Sacramento, CA. Gayatri is survived and dearly loved by her mother, Alice Schilberg of Arlington, VA; sisters Barbara Schilberg of Philadelphia, Janet Schilberg Burt of Arlington, VA; nieces Christine and Laura Burt: and a multitude of dear friends. Gayatri was born on May 18, 1946 in Akron, Ohio to Alice and Glenn Schilberg. She graduated from Oberlin College in 1968 with a degree in economics followed by a PhD equivalent B. Phil in economics from Oxford University. In her youth Gayatri was an accomplished musician, once playing tympani with the Pittsburgh Symphony but most frequently as a pianist for various choral groups. After college she worked for the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. She took advantage of travel opportunities to Europe, Asia and India where she became a disciple of Osho. She devoted her life to pursuing spiritual enlightenment and joy. This passion led to her active involvement with Toastmasters International, Waking Down, Hakomi and Kalos and she met with clients to hone her skills while helping others improve theirs. Gayatri retired from JBS Energy after a 27 year career as an econ omist specializing in public utility issues. With her well respected expertise, she advocated for the interests of consumers in electric and gas rate cases as she presented testimony before public utility commissions throughout the country. Gayatri left consumers and others with the legacy of an amazing body of work as a consummate economist and advocate during her time with JBS.
