Join a conversation with acclaimed fillmmaker Mark Obenhaus '68 who will discuss the documentary "Cover Up" which he co-produced and directed with fellow filmmaker Laura Poitras. The film chronicles the career of Pulitzer Prize-winning jinvestigative journalist Seymour Hersh whose legendary reporting includes the My Lai Massacre, the Watergate scandal, CIA domestic spying and the torture of prisoners at Abu Graib. Hersh provided the filmmakers unique access to archival maerial on his long career.

Journalist Ted Gest '68 will serve as moderator.

"Cover Up" is available for viewing on Netflix.

Mark Obenhaus '68 is a producer and director of documenatary films. His work has won National Emmy's, the British Press Guild Documentary Award, the Writers Guild of America Award, and other honors. He has produced programs for ABC News including Dangerous World: The Kennedy Years and the Kenneday Assasination:Beyond Conspiracy, and he has produced programs for the PBS series "Frontline" At Oberlin, Mark majored in History.

Ted Gest '68 covered the Whithouse, the Supreme Court and the Justice Department for U.S News and World Report. He currently heads the national group Criminal Justice Journalists and edits a daily newsletter Crime and Justice News. He is a current member of the Oberlin College Alumni Leadership Council.  At Oberlin, Ted majored in Government.



 

 

For those of us who are daring enough to plan ahead at this stage of our lives, I am offering a slightly vague 
"Save the Date" announcement about our 60th reunion.

Yes, there will be a 60th reunion.

Yes, the reunion will include the classes of '67-'69.

Yes, it will be in the Fall of 2028, either the last weekend or the next to the last weekend in October (27-29 or 20-22). See what I mean by slightly vague?

Maybe some of the activities wiil be streamed.

No, there will probably not be on campus lodging. We will work on finding our own

Yes, there will be accomodations for accessibility needs, that you can remind the yet-to-be-formed planning committtee to consider.

I hope this helps somewhat in planning something for the future.

President Ambar and other Oberlin Faculty have planned a speaking tour to inform alumni about this report and the progress towards implementation.

The Report WAS adopted by the General Faculty by a nearly unanimous vote in May.
